Classroom Zoom Meeting

Hello all!

I wanted to let you know that I have set up a Zoom meeting for the class to get together, chat, and check in on each other. It will take place at 6:30pm tomorrow and should not last longer than 30 minutes. This meeting is for the students, but if you have any questions please email me! If you are able and willing, please help your student set up Zoom on a computer, phone, or tablet.  Please sign up using your student’s Gmail account. It is a pretty easy tool to use. Here is a YouTube video for how to access a Zoom meeting.

Here is the Zoom invite:

Time: Mar 26, 2020 06:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

  • Mute audio when you are not talking
  • Use the chat to record questions that you have

I hope you are all doing well! Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Week of March 23

Whew! We have made it through an entire school week at home. How is it going parents/students? Please feel free to email me with any questions, comments, concerns, or to just say hi! All of this social distancing is so hard for an extrovert like myself!

I am continuing to upload academic resources on Google Classroom. Remember, all of these are completely optional but are great to keep academic skills fresh during our time off. Here is a quick list of some of the resources I’ve uploaded so far:

  • Math lesson videos
  • Math challenge video
  • Writing prompts
  • Harry Potter escape room
  • Parachute challenge
  • Digital fridge– a place to upload all of the cool projects and activities we have been completing at home
  • Reading challenges

And, I am sure the student’s remember that they can play games like Nitro Type, Study Island, and Prodigy from home. Please let me know if you would like any additional types of resources!

Students, I miss you all so much! I can’t wait to see you in a couple weeks 🙂

Hang in there, we got this.

March 17– online resources

Hello all! As of right now, there are a ton of learning resources uploaded to Google Classroom. I have uploaded 2 video math lessons, and plan on uploading more as often as I can. Any activities for math lessons 3 and 4 will be completed in student notebooks. Students have corresponding worksheets for the math lessons starting with lesson 5. All of this is completely optional and will not be graded! I have also uploaded a huge PDF packet of additional worksheets/activities. Again, these are completely optional but I will give house points for any completed worksheet.

Additionally, I have uploaded a daily check in to Google Classroom. Students, PLEASE try to fill this out every day. I want to know how you are doing!

Again, please do not hesitate to email me for anything you may need during this time. We got this!

Updates & Online Learning

I hope you are all doing well!

Remember that playing outdoors, reading, and talking with family are all great ways to spend your time these next days. Working on your skills using Study Island is also a good idea. Mrs. McClure posted a website on her last communication that is loaded with things to do to have fun and keep your educational skills sharp.

I have begun uploading learning material onto Google Classroom. I am going to be making a few lesson videos for some math and ELA topics. Watching these videos and completing the activities are completely optional, but may be helpful in keeping students on track during this time off.

I will be checking my email often so reach out and ask questions, or just let me know how you’re doing.

**Our fundraiser pick up date is now scheduled for the end of April. Further information will be communicated as that time approaches.

A few helpful resources

Hello guardians and students of 5c,

What a crazy, crazy time. I know the school closing causes a lot of uncertainty. Throughout the next couple of weeks, I will update on here and Google Classroom. I have sent home students with work packets, but I know some of the work may be tricky. Please feel free to email me at any time regarding this work! I am attaching a few example daily schedules I have found online. For me personally, I cannot stay in the house for longer than a couple hours at a time without getting cabin fever. I can only begin to imagine what these students are going to feel like! I hope these schedules help provide a little bit more consistency during this wonky time. Additionally, I have encouraged my students to email me with anything that they may need during our few weeks off of school. I have stressed to them that my love and care for them does not end in the classroom. Within the next couple of days I will be adding more resources onto here and onto Google Classroom– stay tuned!
